DATA SCIENCE APPRENTICE​

Location: Market Square, Nottingham City Centre

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM. One day per week on study leave.

Salary: Competitive

Datagum is a rapidly growing scale up in the IT Market Data sector. We are an international consultancy and Software company with offices in Adelaide, Asia and headquarters in Nottingham. We deliver high impact services and software to our global clients who include Investment Banks, Investment Managers, Exchanges and Brokers.

Here’s what you will be doing:

We don’t expect you to come straight in being the finished package and know everything about what we do. As one of our Data Science Apprentice’s, we’ll help make sure you get the most out of your time with us by embedding you in some of our key projects for some hands-on learning as you embark on your training on a four-year Data Science apprenticeship at the University of Nottingham. Data Science is an exciting and expanding field and we will take the time to ensure that you learn and start growing your career with us. Many of our expert colleagues have a diverse range of experience and so there is plenty of opportunity for you to learn from the very best.

During the Data Science Apprenticeship programme - you will:

• Spend time with our data scientists, learning from them and helping to build our current analytical tools

• Contribute to our data strategy

• Learn about what Datagum does and contribute to our future growth

Support Throughout Your Apprenticeship:

We are committed to helping you succeed throughout your apprenticeship journey. You will receive support from experienced colleagues, your line manager, and a designated buddy who will help you settle into the business and develop your skills. You'll also work closely with our Data Science team, gaining practical experience while learning from subject matter experts.

 Your study day will be used to complete the remote learning elements of your degree apprenticeship programme and to support your academic development alongside your day-to-day role.
 

Eligibility Requirements.

To be eligible for this apprenticeship, you must meet the funding requirements set by the UK Government. This means you must have lived in the UK for at least three years and have permission to reside in the UK that was not granted solely for educational purposes. Alternatively, applicants with settled or pre-settled status may also be eligible.

Please note that Datagum is unable to provide visa sponsorship for this apprenticeship role.

As apprenticeships are designed to help individuals gain new skills and knowledge, applicants cannot already hold a degree in a subject area that is substantially related to the apprenticeship programme. If you already have a degree in Data Science or a closely related discipline, you may not be eligible for this apprenticeship.

 

A Successful Apprentice Will:

• Have a genuine interest in Data Science, Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, and how data can be used to solve real-world business problems.

• Be able to explain why they are interested in pursuing a career in Data Science and why they believe Datagum is the right place to develop their skills.

• Enjoy working with data, identifying patterns, and using logical thinking to solve complex problems.

• Have strong numerical and analytical skills, with a particular interest in mathematics and statistics.

• Demonstrate curiosity and a willingness to learn new technologies, tools, and ways of working.

• Be comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.

• Show attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.

• We welcome applications from candidates with a range of experiences and backgrounds. Please include any academic projects, coding experience, work experience, extracurricular activities, competitions, or personal projects that demonstrate your interest in data, technology, analytics, or problem-solving.

What we look for: 

• Grades 5-9 at GCSE

• BBB-BBC at A Level must include Maths

Or

• Level 4 Data Analyst Apprenticeship or similar at Distinction or Merit

Here’s what you need to know: 

• Your base location will be our Nottingham office and you will be expected in the office 5 days a week, when not on campus for block release. At least one day in the office will be dedicated to your studies.

• We offer a competitive starting salary, with potential for pay progression throughout your apprenticeship based on performance.

• Our benefits package includes a pension scheme, 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays and health insurance (after qualifying period)
